Mid-week Bible Study on Zoom

After going through Belshazzar’s backstory as revealed in scripture, history, and what he knew about the God of Israel in his own family’s history, it’s amazing how many times he would have been given the chance to choose Jehovah. God bore so long with him during his 17-year reign alongside his father Nabonidus, and God wanted him to repent, just as Nebuchadnezzar did. But, after going down the path of dismissing God constantly, committing an act that was deliberately sacreligious against Jehovah and pushing God out of the picture in the Banquet Hall, the uninvited Guest makes His presence known. God had to work His “strange act” (Is 28:21).

Continue to read through Daniel 5 as we see God stepping in, the King’s reaction, and one of the best, most comforting verses in the whole of the Bible, uttered by a descendant of a former Babylonian king.
