Avondale University offers the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) course over a 21-week period, which includes 120 hours of work placement at an aged care and disability facility. This course aims to provide students with skills and knowledge through practical and hands-on learning experiences.

Individual Support graduates acquire skills that open doors to a variety of rewarding career paths, including:

  • Aged Care Worker
  • Care Assistant
  • Support Worker
  • Respite Worker
  • Home and Community Care Worker

The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care identifies a significant shortage of aged and disability care workers across the nation. With an ageing population, the demand for skilled professionals in aged and disability care is expected to grow. 

There are two intakes for the course each year, with a duration of 21 weeks. The next intake starts on the 2nd of February 2026.

  • Target students: school leavers, gap year, return to work, career change
  • Duration: 21 weeks, including 120 hours of work placement & 1 week break
  • Study Type: Face-to-face with online components
  • Study Commitment: 3 days per week, face-to-face in class (9am – 3pm)
  • Work Placement: 4 days per week for 4 weeks (6:30am – 3pm)
