Allergy awareness
I’m writing in regards to food allergy awareness. I’m sure you’d all agree, that we want to look out for those in our congregation with serious allergies as best we can. While we can never guarantee to be allergy/nut free, I would like us all to be more allergy aware.
I will be introducing some extra signage in regards to GF and foods that contain nuts, which you will see in coming weeks. We do fairly well in regards to our GF food, however, need to improve how we handle and label foods that may contain nuts. For some members of our congregation, nut allergies are severe and can pose serious health risks, even with small amounts or cross-contamination.

To help keep everyone safe and included, could I please ask that:
- Any dish containing nuts is clearly labelled.
- If you are unsure whether a product contains nuts, it’s safest to label it as “may contain nuts.”
- Either add a sticky note with your dish, or use the stickers that will be available in the kitchen when dropping off your food.
Clear labelling allows everyone to make informed choices and ensures that all members of our church family can participate in meals with confidence and peace of mind. We can’t guarantee that the food is nut free; and we would always encourage those with an allergy to ask first or just choose something else.
Thank you for your understanding, care, and cooperation. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out.
Warm regards,
The Hospitality Team
